This year’s IWTz2022 was jointly organized by UNDP Tanzania through FUNGUO and the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) under the coordination of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) focusing on the Theme: “Innovation for Sustainable Development” in Swahili “Ubunifu Kwa Maendeleo Endelevu”. The weeklong event was graced by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Prime Minister of Tanzania together with the First Vice President of Zanzibar and was marked by the climax of the National Competition for Science, Technology, and Innovation, also known as MAKISATU. During the Innovation Week Tanzania 2022, FUNGUO co-curated with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology together with COSTECH a high-level symposium on Public Sector Innovation for a better today and tomorrow (Recording available on YouTube) which brought out key issues that are hindering the Government from embracing innovations, but also showcased available opportunities. One of the unique standouts of this Innovation Week was the high involvement of the youth in schools and universities who showcased their innovation during the MAKISATU exhibitions.
