Filmed across Tanzania, the documentary Beyond the Hurdles: Unique Challenges and Opportunities for Women-Led Innovative Ventures captured the inspiring journeys of women entrepreneurs supported by the FUNGUO Programme. Through real-life stories, the documentary delved into the specific challenges these women faced in their entrepreneurial pursuits, from accessing funding to overcoming systemic barriers. It also celebrated the opportunities that arose from their determination, creativity, and resilience. By showcasing their achievements, the documentary emphasized the critical need for increased support for women-led businesses and highlighted their vital role in driving economic growth and social progress in the region.
The premiere, held on December 11, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, celebrated the remarkable contributions of women entrepreneurs while showcasing the tangible impact of the FUNGUO Programme. By that time, FUNGUO had invested over TZS 5.2 billion in 61 businesses, 30% of which were led by women. These ventures collectively created more than 4,000 jobs, addressing critical challenges in clean energy, recycling, agriculture, and healthcare. The premiere brought together stakeholders, partners, and the public to emphasize the importance of fostering inclusivity and innovation within Tanzania’s startup ecosystem. Beyond the Hurdles stood as a powerful testament to the resilience of women entrepreneurs and the transformative potential of women-led ventures.
