This funding call is open for for-profit entities (startups or innovative SMEs) with a viable business model and potential to scale.
There is no minimum number of permanent staff to qualify for the application if all the selection criteria are met.

The basic documents required include the following:
FUNGUO may request additional information and documentation from entities that reach the due diligence stage.
The following is the sequence of steps that will be followed in the review and selection process:
Step 1: Eligibility screening – This is automatically done by the system based on the basic eligibility criteria.
Step 2: Eligibility review – This is an advanced eligibility screening to verify whether the provided information and attached documentation are accurate.
Step 3: Advanced review – This will be conducted by a team of technical reviewers against the selection criteria.
Step 4: Due diligence – Entities that pass the advanced review stage shall be subjected to a due diligence process on the applications, founders, management team to verify the authenticity of the provided information. This may involve talking to other funders, customers, partners, and interview with the founders.
Step 5: Grant agreement negotiation – the selected applicants will finalize the scope of the grant and finalize workplan, budgets, targets and indicators
Step 6: Approval of the selected applications by the Investment Committee.
The programme is initially being funded by UNDP, the European Union Delegation to Tanzania and EAC, as well as the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO). The implementation is being led by UNDP Tanzania in partnership with the United Nations Capital Development Fund, UNCDF and the Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), who is our government partner.
